If you need help with booking an appointment, uploading documents, requesting an access code, or information about a service, you can contact UKVCAS directly. You can expect to receive a response within five working days. Please be aware that the staff in the contact centre organisations are not involved in the decision of your application. You can appeal later if your administrative review was unsuccessful for an EU Settlement Scheme, frontier worker or S2 healthcare visitor application. Your administrative review decision will tell you how to appeal.

You have fourteen days to consider the outcome and decide if you wish to proceed to the next stage. You will be given the Cambridge English Teaching Qualifications Stage One Appeal Form by your centre. You must complete the form, detail the concerns you have, and submit this to the centre. Please speak to your centre if you are unhappy with your result and are seeking to initiate an Enquiry or an Appeal. There will be a charge for the submission of an appeal at the Pre-Appeal Stage, Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the procedure. If you are interested in requesting a Results Enquiry, please let us know in writing indicating the candidate’s full name and candidate number as well as the exam taken and the date of the exam.

The first is the date by which an enquiry must be submitted if a Stage 2 re-mark is required. And if you are not able to get it from the appeals tribunal for any reason, claim compensation from UKBA. They will direct UKBA to refund as this unnecessary expanse has occured due to UKBA's mistake.

About the fees

The purpose of the initial consideration is to decide whether any further work relating to the appeal should be authorised (e.g. re-marking of additional exam materials; gathering of additional evidence). Appellants must make payment to our centre before the end of the 14-day period and submit any supporting documents within this period. The written evidence relating to the case will be reviewed by senior staff from Cambridge English.

Appellants must submit a completed Appeals application form and make payment to the Centre or directly to Cambridge by the end of the 21-day period. A Chief Assessor who has had no previous involvement with the result in question, reviews the documentation and prepares a report on your performance and/or the specific points of any complaint about course provision. The report is then sent to an Independent Reviewer who endorses the decision where appropriate and confirms that the Appeals procedure has been followed correctly. If candidates are not satisfied with the outcome of the Result Enquiry process, they are entitled to request a formal appeal against their grade. The appeal is submitted within 14 days of the receipt of the relevant decision. In the case of IELTS, the appeal is submitted by the Test Centre Administrator at British Council authorised centres, or by IDP Education Ltd. If candidates are not satisfied with the outcome of the Result Enquiry process, they are entitled to request a formal appeal against their result. Whilst every case is different, the appellant will usually prepare an appeal statement responding to the Home Office’s reasons for coming to their decision.

You have 14 days to appeal from the date the decision was sent. For most cases, you must appeal online using the MyHMCTS service. You’ll need to create an account first if you do not have one. We will aim to respond to your application within 14 days of receiving it. However, you will not automatically qualify for fee cancellation or reduction if you are unemployed, a student or a prisoner. The Appeal is submitted within 21 days of receipt of the relevant decision. You will be provided with a formal report from an Independent Appeals Investigator. There is an administrative fee payable for each stage of the Appeals process. Please speak to your centre who will be able to confirm the fees.

Appellants have the right to present their case in person to the Appeals Committee. If a candidate is under the age of 18 the parent or guardian will need to be present or can present the case on their behalf. The outcome of their appeal will be notified in writing within 10 weeks of submission of the Stage Two appeal request. Should this review result in a decision to uphold the appeal the centre/candidate will be notified. The appeal is submitted within 21 calendar days of the receipt of the relevant decision. The appeal is submitted in writing by the Centre Exams Manager clearly outlining the grounds upon which the appeal is being submitted.

Appeal determined on the papers

Candidates who have taken the test at centres authorised by IDP Education Ltd make their appeal by contacting Appeals are then taken forward by Cambridge English. You may need to apply to the Home Office for a travel document if you have leave to remain in the UK for less than six months. Currently, there is no Home Office contact number for a travel document application. Refunds are usually paid back to the credit or debit card used to make the fee payment. If someone else paid your fee, please contact them to confirm their card is still valid ahead of repayment.

Once an appeal has been lodged, and any required fee paid, both the appellant and the Home Office will usually submit further evidence in support of their position. Some Home Office decisions come with an in-country right of appeal, which means that the appellant can remain in the UK during the appeal process. However, some decisions only come with an out-of-country right of appeal, which means the appellant must bring their appeal from abroad.
